Three Cases of Primary Omental Torsion

Abstract
1. Three cases of primary omental torsion of the greater omentum were experienced at the surgical department of Korea University Medical College Hospital.
2. Two of these were male, one of was female and ages were 29,39 and 45 years old.
3. The condition manifests itself with symptoms and sign of an acute surgical abdomen mimicking usually acute appendicitis or torsion of ovarian cyst.
4. Treatment consist of resection of the involved omentum. No post operative complication developed.
5. The finding of free serosanguineous fluid at the time of laparotomy in the absence of a pathologic condition in the appendix, gallbladder, or pelvic organs should alert the surgeon to the possibility of omental torsion.
